The 2023/2024 BRI Liga 1 Championship Series round is getting closer. PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir also emphasized that this round was ready to use VAR referee assistance technology.
Previously, the VAR trial process had been carried out. The selected match devices have undergone various processes.
A trial of using VAR was also carried out at the Elite Pro Academy (EPA) final which was held at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java on Thursday (7/3/2024).
“VAR has been tested for use in the official Elite Pro Academy 2023/24 final match. God willing, we will use VAR in League 1 in the Championship Series round to improve the quality of Indonesian football,” said Erick via Instagram.
List of Teams that Qualified for the Championship Series
Currently there is only one team that has confirmed itself to qualify for the 2023/2024 BRI Liga 1 Championship Series. The team in question is Borneo FC Samarinda.
Borneo FC has indeed performed great throughout this season. The team coached by Pieter Huistra now even has 66 points from 28 matches.
Borneo FC is far ahead, reaching 15 points over Persib Bandung, which is in second place. Currently other teams are fighting over the remaining three ticket slots to compete in the 2023/2024 BRI Liga 1 Championship Series.
