The Indonesia U-23 National Team versus Guinea match in the 2024 Paris Olympics play-off will be held on Thursday (9/5) in Clairefontaine, France, at 20.00 WIB.
Even though there are a number of players who cannot be played, Indonesian U-23 Team Coach Shin Tae-yong is determined to win with the Garuda Muda squad in order to get tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Two players are confirmed to be absent due to red cards during the U-23 Asian Cup semifinal against Uzbekistan, namely captain Rizky Ridho. Meanwhile, Justin Hubner did not compete because his club, Cerezo Osaka, did not allow it. Apart from that, Elkan Baggott was also not released by his club Ipswich Town.
“Indeed, before the game against Guinea, to be honest, our squad was not good. “So with the current squad we have to work hard until the end so we can get good results,” said Shin Tae-yong.
Even so, Shin Tae-yong received new ammunition, namely the joining of Alfeandra Dewangga since last Tuesday (7/5). The player from PSIS Semarang has been training with the Garuda Muda squad.
“Justin was not released by Cerezo Osaka, this was the last match so actually it was very sad and very unfortunate because he was not released, because the Indonesian team doesn’t often get the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics. “Moreover, this is the last chance to qualify for the Olympics but I find it difficult, it’s very unfortunate,” he added.
The South Korean coach added that he had analyzed Guinea’s strength through video recordings, and admitted that the West African team did have good strength.
“Indeed, now I continue to analyze through videos what the Guinea match was like. A very good and very strong team, especially since many Guinean players play in Europe too. So it can’t be said that this is a weak team. “So this is something that is quite worrying,” explained STY.
Meanwhile, regarding Marselino Ferdinan, who received criticism after the U-23 Asian Cup match against Iraq, Shin admitted that he asked the public and supporters of the Indonesian national team to continue to provide support for the player.
“I should have given advice to Marselino before, but yesterday I couldn’t give advice so this was also my mistake. So I apologize to Indonesian football fans. “Marselino shouldn’t be like that to the Indonesian people,” said STY
