Mauricio Pochettino looks set to get a new job. The coach’s name has now emerged as a prime candidate to become the next United States National Team coach .
The former Chelsea, PSG and Tottenham coach has been a favourite within US Soccer (the United States FA) who said the organisation was in talks with his representatives.
Gregg Berhalter was fired in July after the United States’ disastrous Copa America campaign that saw the team eliminated in the group stage.
Jurgen Klopp was previously linked with the position but refused to enter talks after leaving Liverpool and planning to take a break from football.

According to multiple reports, Pochettino’s representatives first met with US Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker in Europe in mid-July.
He is one of a number of top coaches who have held preliminary talks with the federation, either directly or through intermediaries.
Other Candidates
Before Pochettino, the United States national team was linked with Gareth Southgate and current Hoffenheim manager Pellegrino Matarazzo.
Patrick Vieira, who recently resigned from his post at Strasbourg in France’s Ligue 1, has also reportedly been contacted.
However, Crocker is reportedly more inclined to choose Pochettino, who he worked with while coaching the Southampton academy.
So Obstacle
Perhaps the obstacle for the United States National Team is that Pochettino was one of the highest paid coaches when he was in charge of Chelsea and PSG, earning $15-20 million.
Pochettino took Tottenham to the 2019 Champions League final and won league and cup titles during his two years in France. He took Chelsea from 12th to sixth last season.
