Manchester United have acquired a new center back, Leny Yoro. However, this factor does not immediately close the door to Matthijs de Ligt’s move to Old Trafford.
MU has completed the transfer saga of 18-year-old defender Leny Yoro. MU beat Real Madrid in terms of bid. MU paid €62 million to Lille for the transfer of Leny Yoro.
After Leny Yoro, MU was claimed not to enter the transfer market to find another center back. However, the situation that occurred was the opposite.
Fabrizio Romano said that Erik ten Hag’s team is still open to buying one more center back. Two players are on the Red Devils’ shopping list.
MU Continues to Explore Matthijs de Ligt Transfer
Leny Yoro makes MU’s center-back composition sufficient in quantity. Moreover, they have given a new contract to senior player Jonny Evans.
However, according to Romano, Leny Yoro will not end MU’s plans to get a new center-back. Matthijs de Ligt remains on the shopping list. So is Jarrad Branthwaite.
“Matthijs de Ligt is still on the list, but Man United will only proceed on their terms,” wrote Fabrizio Romano on his X account.
“Same with Branthwaite. Still high up the list but not for £70 or £75m,” added the Italian journalist.
Erik ten Hag Still Hopes for Matthijs de Ligt’s Arrival
There are reports that United are ready to release one of their center-backs to open up space for De Ligt and Branthwaite. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has openly admitted his interest in De Ligt’s services.
“It remains to be seen whether Matthijs de Ligt will come. I know him well. I wanted to sign him two years ago but at that time, he was already very far from joining Bayern,” Ten Hag said.
“Believe it or not, his name did not come up from me in the process,” continued the Dutch man as quoted by AD.
