There is a new update regarding the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga . The goalkeeper is rumored to be leaving Chelsea this summer.
Kepa is one of Chelsea’s goalkeepers. In the 2023/2024 season, he was loaned by The Blues to Real Madrid to replace the injured Thibaut Courtois.
Kepa’s loan period has now ended, and he has returned to Chelsea to continue his career.
However, as reported by Fabrizio Romano , the goalkeeper will not return to Stamford Bridge. He has decided to leave the West London club.
Not In The Plan
According to Romano’s report, Kepa decided to leave Chelsea because he was not included in the Blues’ plans for the 2024/2025 season.
Chelsea’s new coach Enzo Maresca is reportedly set to choose Robert Sanchez as Chelsea’s main goalkeeper next season. Meanwhile, Djordje Petrovic will be Sanchez’s understudy and competitor for the starting spot.
Kepa himself is reluctant to be just a backup player at Chelsea. That is why he decided to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Want to Return to Real Madrid
According to Romano’s report, Kepa is currently hoping to be bought permanently by Real Madrid.
He feels comfortable playing at Los Blancos. That is why he hopes the La Liga champions will use his services in the 2024/2025 season.
Madrid themselves are reportedly ready to re-sign Kepa. However, they will only sign the goalkeeper if Andriy Lunin leaves this summer.
Alternative Options
If Real Madrid do not sign Kepa, the goalkeeper will most likely continue his career in Saudi Arabia.
A number of top Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly interested in signing the Spanish international goalkeeper this summer.
