Former England national team goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that the news of Newcastle interest in Antony is just a rumor because he is sure that no one in the Magpies team is interested in the Manchester United winger.
Antony was previously expected to sharpen Man United’s attack line. However, despite being brought in at a high price, his performance has not lived up to expectations.
Antony eventually became the object of ridicule from fans and media criticism. The Brazilian player was eventually placed on the bench by Erik Ten Hag.
Antony was then rumored to be leaving Man United. One of the teams claimed to be interested in taking him in was Newcastle.
Nobody Wants Antony
Newcastle have a lot of great players now. But they are still trying to strengthen Eddie Howe’s team.
Newcastle are then reported to be eyeing Anthony Elanga. However, if they have trouble signing the Nottingham Forest winger, then the Magpies will bring in Antony from Manchester United in January 2025.
The rumor was then responded to by Paul Robinson. He claimed that the news was just a hoax.
“Antony, no. I don’t think anyone at Newcastle would touch him,” he claimed on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast , via Goal.
Antony Doesn’t Fit In The Premier League
Paul Robinson then made a rather sharp comment to Antony. He said that the former Ajax Amsterdam player was not really suited to playing in the Premier League.
Because the pace of football in England is too fast for him. Robinso claims Antony is more suited to playing in Spain or even France.
“Listen, he’s a good player, but he’s too light for the Premier League. He takes too long on the ball and the league is too fast for him,” he claimed.
“If you look at other leagues, the Dutch league where he excelled or maybe the Spanish league La Liga or Ligue 1 might be more suited to a player like him,” Robinson added.
