New rumors are circulating about Manchester United’s transfer activity this summer. The team nicknamed the Red Devils will try again to recruit Ivan Toney from Brentford .
This summer, MU is indeed hunting for a new striker. They need a replacement for Anthony Martial whose contract was not extended by the Red Devils management.
MU itself has already found a replacement for Martial. They have secured the services of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna recently.
According to The Athletic, MU still wants to find a new striker this summer. Ivan Toney is said to be a serious target for the Red Devils.

Need a Pure Striker
According to the report, MU wants to get Toney’s services because they need a pure striker in their attack line.
MU’s coaching team sees Zirkzee as a shadow striker. So they still need a pure striker to be the spearhead of their team.
That is why Toney’s proven Premier League form has become a target for the Red Devils this summer.
Price Drop
Another reason why United are interested in signing Toney is because the striker’s price has reportedly dropped.
Brentford initially wanted to sell the striker for around £60m. However, no offers were received because the price was considered too high.
The Bees are reportedly willing to sell Toney for under £50m, with United reportedly interested in bringing him to Old Trafford.
Alternative Options
The same report also claims that United have a backup option if they fail to secure Toney’s services this summer.
The Red Devils will try to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton, with the striker reportedly keen on joining United.
