Jose Mourinho admitted that he was not satisfied with Fenerbahce ‘s victory over Lugano on Wednesday (24/07/2024).

The Lugano vs Fenerbahce duel was the first leg of the second round of the 2024/2025 Champions League Qualifiers . Goals rained in this match.

Lugano scored three goals. However, Fenerbahce managed to win after scoring four goals.

Edin Dzeko was the star of the match. He managed to score a hat-trick or three goals.

Exciting But Problematic

Jose Mourinho is indeed happy that Fenerbahce won. Moreover, his team managed to win by scoring four goals.

However, Mourinho admitted that he was not satisfied. Because his team conceded many goals.

“A game with seven goals is very exciting for the fans. But from a coaching point of view, conceding three goals is a problem,” Mourinho lamented.

Two Reasons Fenerbahce Conceded

Jose Mourinho then revealed two reasons why Fenerbahce conceded. The first was because his team’s defense was not alert enough to close down the opponent’s attack and the second was because Lugano was not sporting.

“I don’t like conceding goals from set pieces. The second goal was an easy shot and the third goal was not fair play,” he criticized.

“They should have given us the ball and they didn’t,” he lamented again.
