PSSI Apologizes to the Guinean Football Federation After Being Affected by Racist Attacks from Indonesian National Team Fans

PSSI Apologizes to the Guinean Football Federation After Being Affected by Racist Attacks from Indonesian National Team Fans

PSSI apologized to the Guinean Football Federation (FGF) after being hit by racist attacks from Indonesian national team fans. This racist attack was inseparable from the disappointment of Garuda fans after the Indonesian U-23 National Team lost 0-1 to Guinea in the 2024 Paris Olympics playoff match.

As is known, the Indonesian U-23 national team suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat to Guinea U-23 at the Stade Pierre Pibarot, Clairefontaine, France, Thursday (9/5/2024) evening WIB. This defeat also dashed the Garuda Muda Squad’s hopes of competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

It seems that many football fans do not accept this defeat. To the point, many people carried out disgraceful actions by throwing racist sentences at the social media accounts of FGF and Guinean U-23 players.

For this reason, PSSI apologized openly to FGF. The parent of Indonesian football gave full support to Guinea U-23 who succeeded in winning tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

PSSI apologizes for the racist actions of Indonesian national team fans

“To Our Friends, @feguifootofficiel and the Guinea National Football Team. Congratulations, Guinea! “We send our support for your Paris 2024 Olympic journey,” wrote PSSI on its Instagram, Friday (10/5/2024).

“On behalf of the Indonesian National Football Team, we apologize profusely and regret the inconvenience caused by all inappropriate comments that entered your social media account,” he continued.

PSSI firmly states that it truly respects diversity. Moreover, Indonesia is a country that has a variety of cultures and ethnicities. Therefore, PSSI strongly opposes the racist actions carried out by Indonesian fans against the players and the Guinean federation
